My 1st Blog Post

Hello there,

I’m Nicki Slaugh, and I’m thrilled to welcome you to my blog! I've created this space to share my insights and experiences from my 23-year journey in education.

From day one, I've cherished every moment in this profession. Whether teaching Kinder through 3rd grades, serving as an instructional technology coach, presenting at conferences, or now leading as a Junior High Principal, published author and educational consultant! No matter what the role, I am passionate about it! For me, teaching isn’t just a job—it’s who I am. I am always willing to help anyone that needs help!

School culture is my passion project. Every day, regardless of my role, I ensure my students are engaged, having fun, and challenged. As a leader, I believe in embodying the energy I wish to see. A couple of my favorite quotes are: Be the energy you want to attract. Your vibe attracts your tribe.

Beyond education, I love life in Utah and the great outdoors—hiking, paddleboarding, and enjoying poolside relaxation. Dancing is my soul soother, and music is my happiness booster—I’m often found hopping, skipping, and dancing wherever I go!

A self-proclaimed girly girl, I adore mascara, lip gloss, and heels. Once a cheerleader, always a cheerleader—my students can attest to the high kicks that come with my excitement for their achievements! I’m their biggest fan, believing it’s my role to love, inspire, support, and challenge them daily.

Personalized learning is my passion. I have personalized for the past 20 years, but currently at Quest Jr. High, we embraced it wholeheartedly, transitioning from a traditional to a personalized approach as a whole school. With my dedicated "dream team" of educators, we’re making magic happen every day. Together, we’ve proven that moving away from the “one size fits all” approach is not only possible but incredibly rewarding.

I hope you find my blog insightful and informative. My mission is to inspire hope that you can meet the needs of all learners, love your job, and avoid burnout. My “why” has always been my students and will always be the students—I’m here to make an impact! Cheers to getting to know each other and hopefully connecting one day!

Much Love,

Nicki Slaugh
